A one stop shop for game hunters and salami makers …and chefs too
Starting out as a butcher in north-east Victoria, Brent Ibrom realised it was difficult to find decent knives in the local area, so he decided to correct that gap in the market by sourcing good quality knives and setting up a stall at a local market, as well as selling them online on eBay. It was such a success that within a few years he was able to set up in conventional physical premises …and then had to move again to a larger place a few years later!
Now his business – My Slice of Life – has branched out into stocking all sorts of equipment and tools needed by food enthusiasts (including for example the I.O.Shen MasterGrade knives and Nirey electric knife sharpeners), as well as workshops for people who want to hone their skills in making various foods and drinks – for example sausage making and brewing to name just two.
Brent’s latest venture is The Carnivore Collective, which he set up to support people with a strong connection to the land, where self-sufficiency and healthy living are all part of the deal. The collective caters to the specific needs of game harvesters, home butchers, salami makers, but also chefs and commercial customers with the same ideals.
“With the right tools and equipment, sustainable hunting and gathering can provide healthy and high quality food for you and your family, and we are here to help you take control of your food instead of relying on the industrial food system.” says Brent.
The Carnivore Collective is off to a good start, stocking an incredibly wide range of essential pieces of kit – at last count just under 200 products!
